Take a stroll down Westgate Street's colourful past with Windows Through Time!
The ‘Windows Through Time’ light installation by renowned light artist Jack Wimperis will be on display in Westgate Street later this month.
Friday 20th October - Thursday 26th October
📍 Westgate Street, Gloucester
Huge windows will hang high above the street, and lighting will be used to highlight the amazing architecture in the wealth of Westgate's historic buildings. Visitors to the street in the evenings of 20th and 21st, 6-8pm, will be able to pick up a trail leaflet from the Cathedral Quarter HQ at no 21 Westgate St to complete. The lighting installation will be in place until 26th October
About the Artist:
Jack Wimperis started his career 40 years ago as a traditional stained glass artist and has subsequently developed many novel techniques for relief sandblasting of glass. He incorporated illumination into his pieces about 25 years ago, and has subsequently built up a flourishing production studio producing sculptures, installations and architectural lighting design. He works all over the world and recent commissions include Damien Hirst, Dubai Airport, and Canary Wharf Light Festival.
He recently had his own exhibition on at the Subrooms in Stroud, where he lives.
