Step back in time with the National Waterways Museum Gloucester summer holiday trail 'Picnics & Pleasure Boats'.

Visit the National Waterways Museum Gloucester this summer to get a taste of what it was like to go on holiday on a boat in the 1970s.

We are bringing the history of the boat Bluebelle to life with our summer holiday trail, Picnics and Pleasure boats.

Collect a drawstring, gingham bag and explore the museum, picking up things for your trip along the way. From plimsolls to instant mash, find out what the Bluebelle family took on their boat trips and then visit the boat to see how they managed to holiday with six people in such a small space.

The Canal & River Trust Explorers Education team will offer Thursday morning crafty activities 10am-1pm, included in the admission price.

If you want to experience the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal for yourself, take a trip on the museum trip boat Queen Boadicea II. You are more than welcome to bring your own picnic along for the journey.

The Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm. Boat trips will operate Thursday-Saturday during the summer and on some Tuesdays and Wednesdays but please check the museum social media channels for any changes to the boat schedule before your visit.

The museum ticket prices are:
