Llanthony Secunda Priory

Places to Visit

Discover Llanthony Secunda Priory's historic corner of Gloucester. Within our grounds you can discover medieval ruins and some of the earliest medieval and Tudor brickwork in the county. The Victorian Farmhouse, cattle pond, grassy lawns and veteran trees create a beautiful backdrop for a picnic and family games.  You can visit these at any times but to enter the building you need to visit during an open day.

The grounds are open all year round, 365 days a year, and can be accessed on foot from Llanthony Road or from the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal tow path next to Gloucestershire College.  You can access our grounds best from the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal towpath, next to Gloucestershire College. There is also a pedestrian gate off Llanthony Road.

Open Days

The Llanthony Secunda Priory buildings are open to the public on the first Sunday of each month, from 11am – 3pm. Volunteers are on hand to tell you a bit more about the Priory and its history. A guided tour of the site takes places at 11.30am.

The recent restoration at Llanthony Secunda Priory has brought two of Llanthony' s Grade I and II listed buildings back to life.

Visitors are now able to step inside our newly restored medieval buildings on our monthly open days and take part in a guided tour to discover Llanthony Secunda's interesting and varied past. Our open days are staffed by our volunteers, many of whom witnessed the transformation first hand and will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Dogs are welcome

Dogs are very welcome at Llanthony Secunda; our open grounds are a great place to walk your four-legged friend.
We do ask all visitors to please pick up after your dog, and to keep your dog under close control at all times.
