Gloucester Skating

Places to Visit

We are very pleased to be able to re-open our public skating sessions starting on Saturday 22nd May, aligned to the Government's Step 3 plan, and following guidance from our governing body.

Our sessions are open for both children and adults, with limited spectators allowed, who will also need to book and pay for a place if they are remaining in the hall through the session.

Things will be a little different and below are the new processes we have put in place to ensure the safety of our attendees, organisers and the sports centre staff.

We will constantly review these processes and ensure we remain aligned to Government, UK Active and governing body procedures and risk assessments. Please check our website and Facebook group for the latest updates.

Booking Attendance
In order to remain aligned with Government and governing body regulations, we will need to continue to limit numbers, as part of ongoing social distancing requirements.
Attendance at all sessions should be booked online in advance using this LINK. If spaces remain, we may allow limited attendance without pre-booking

Each session will still operate with limited numbers, in line with official guidance. Groups of more than 6 people will not be allowed to book to attend. Children under 8 will need to be accompanied by a paying adult, even if they do not intend to skate themselves.

NOTE - the booking process is free of charge, but please ONLY reserve a place if you intend to come along (and remember to cancel your booking if your plans change, to allow others to take your place).
You will be required to leave your contact details on booking, to support the Government's track and trace requirements in case of Covid-19 case identification.
Arrival at the Centre
Access will be via the fire door at the back of the sports hall. Please do not enter via the main entrance of the sports centre.Adults, and children over the age of 11, will be required to correctly wear a face covering while inside the sports hall (these can be removed while on the floor skating). You will be asked to register your attendance using the NHS track and trace app via the QR code displayed at the entrance. Numbers remain limited, so while we can allow spectators, they have to be included in our total numbers and will therefore need to book and pay for a session. Exceptions can be made for carers/special needs as necessary - the wearing of masks will be mandatory for all adults at all times, unless skating. Do not arrive more than 15 minutes before the start time of the session (start time remains at 1:15pm)Skaters are requested to bring their own hand sanitiser for use during the session. Santiser will be available at the desk and entrance/exits. Payment will be made at the entrance to the hall via contactless methods ONLY (debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay) . Cash payments cannot be accepted. For your safety, the card reader and desk will be wiped down between transactions.

During the Session
Skates will be available for loan and will have been fully sanitised from the previous session. When skating, please maintain appropriate social distancing from others not in your immediate family. Skating in groups of more than 6 will not be permitted and any skaters doing so will be asked to separate and maintain social distancing rules. Regular reminder announcements will be made during the session. Access to toilets will be limited and only one person at a time will be able to use the facilities (in line with the Sport Centre's safe operating procedures). The centre vending machines are currently not in operation and water will not be available for sale from the desk - please bring your own drinks if required.

At the end of the session
Anyone using our loan skates should leave them by the skate boxes and NOT return them to the storage boxes, to allow for full cleaning and sanitation. Please exit the hall promptly, ensuring appropriate social distancing at exits and doorways.
