The Elmore Chamber Music Festival takes place in the stunning, centuries-old St. John the Baptist Church in Elmore, nestled along the scenic River Severn in the heart of Gloucestershire’s idyllic countryside.

Every August, this intimate four-day festival transforms the historic church into a hub of world-class chamber music, showcasing some of the brightest and most talented young musicians of today. Now in its sixth year, the Festival has rapidly become a key fixture among the UK’s leading chamber music events, celebrated for bringing exceptional talent to a breathtaking rural setting. Whether you're a longtime classical music lover or a newcomer, the Festival offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere that promises an unforgettable experience.

The inaugural Festival in August 2020 faced unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With just two days’ notice and indoor performances banned, the Festival quickly adapted, relocating to an outdoor venue. Thanks to the incredible support of the local community, the event went ahead, marking a resilient beginning for the Festival.

In 2021, ECMF returned to its iconic home at St. John the Baptist Church, where it continues to flourish, welcoming both musicians and audiences to enjoy exceptional performances in a truly unique setting. The Festival has grown each year, attracting more renowned artists and ensembles. Past performers include Petr Prause, Ben Powell, Toby Hughes, the De Beauvoir Piano Trio, Rosa Hartley, the Elmore Quartet, Victor Lim, and Filip Michalak.

In recent years, ECMF has expanded its mission by offering a platform for emerging talent. The Festival has hosted a series of events to support local young musicians, including a pianist masterclass, a performer showcase, and a composition workshop. Each year, around 20 students from local schools get the opportunity to engage with professional musicians, enriching their musical journeys and forging connections within the wider artistic community.

Beyond the music, the Elmore Chamber Music Festival offers exceptional hospitality. The Festival Bar, in collaboration with Gloucester’s award-winning Pelican Inn, serves a range of local ciders, craft beers, and cask ales from the renowned Wye Valley Brewery, just across the river. It's the perfect place to unwind before or after a concert, making for a full, enriching experience.
